Even when research is conducted in well-resourced settings for diseases with predictable epidemiology, research may fail due to practical, rather than scientific or technical reasons.

The additional ‘on the ground’ challenges to conducting research during a disease outbreak should not be underestimated.  This CREDO Logistical and Operational Planning module provides some pragmatic solutions for common logistical and operational hurdles encountered by clinical research staff working during outbreaks.
